Terms of Use

Last updated

By reading inkling.top you agree to these terms. They are short because the site is simple: we publish material about how poems work, and you decide what to do with it.

What the content is

Everything here is general information about craft — forms, exercises and reading notes. It is not a course, not a qualification, and not a substitute for a teacher, an editor or a workshop. Judgements about a poem are arguments, not verdicts; where the notes disagree with a common reading they say so, and you are free to disagree back.

Your own work

You keep the copyright in anything you write. Nothing on this site is a claim on work produced with the help of an exercise or a prompt, and no attribution to Quillquest is required. Do not send us drafts; we do not read them and we do not accept submissions.

Specimens and quotations

Original specimens on this site belong to Quillquest and are covered by the section on intellectual property below. Quotations from other poets are limited to works in the public domain or to short extracts used for commentary and criticism. If you believe a quotation is attributed wrongly or exceeds fair use, write to [email protected] and we will correct or remove it.

No warranty

Material is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Metre counts, rhyme schemes and dates are checked by hand and can still be wrong. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Quillquest and its contributors are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, this site or its content.

Intellectual property

The text, tables, line drawings and code on this site belong to Quillquest unless otherwise stated, and are protected by copyright. You may quote short extracts with a link to the source page, and you may use the exercises in a classroom or workshop with attribution. You may not republish substantial parts, or present the material as your own.

Third-party links

Links to external sites are provided for reference. We do not control those sites, do not endorse their content, and are not responsible for their accuracy, availability or practices.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a volume that degrades service for others, or present its content as professional advice or as a substitute for a course of study.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top of the page will change when we do. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
